This is a note about what I did for the European Union Digital Services Act trader requirements last week

Background

I got the message on the admin page of my iOS app.

I had no idea about it but it seemed quite dangerous. So I worked on the issue.

What I did

I opened the link in the message, which led me to the following page.

Based on the information, we need to provide more information on the app download page if we’re the “Trader”. So I had to assess if we’re the “Trader” and I would say that most apps made with the software engineer job title were the target of this issue according to the section.

Whether you develop your app in connection with your trade, business, craft, or profession — meaning that you’re acting in a professional/business capacity. You’re unlikely to be a trader for EU law purposes if you’re acting “for purposes which are outside your trade, business, craft, or profession.” For example, if you’re a hobbyist and you developed your app with no intention of commercializing it, you may not be considered a trader.

Then I needed to provide the phone number and email to the app store. I clicked the Go to Business link on the message.

Then I clicked the Complete Compliance Requirements link.

Then the modal showed up. I ticked the top option and moved to the next.

Then I was required to provide the phone number and email on the next page.

After I moved to the next, I was required to input the passcode which was sent through email and SMS. Afterward, I got the success message and the dangerous message had gone away.

I thought it would be more complicated. However, I just put the phone number and email address.

That’s it!
